Tips for resubmitting a revised piece from the spring cycle?

So I struck out in February. Like 0 for 74. I've spent the last few months basically gutting the introduction and tightening my argument and I genuinely think the piece is significantly better now but... is there any point? Do editors even look at resubmissions or do they just see the same title and toss it? I changed the title slightly but the abstract is still pretty similar. Part of me thinks I should just shelve it and start something new but I've put like 8 months into this thing and my tenure clock is ticking so starting from scratch feels insane. Anyone else resubmitting revised work this cycle?

I am. FWIW, if you really gutted the introduction and rebuilt it, I would absolutely send it again. That’s probably the part that matters most on an initial read anyway. If the argument is clearer up front and the piece gets to the point faster, I’d consider that a meaningfully different submission, even if the abstract still looks similar.
